Under development for nearly three years, the Chestnut Lodge community is one of the finest series of homes we’ve had the pleasure to design. Not only have we been the lead architects for the new home designs, we were one of seventeen consultants hired by Chase Communities to work on this project and have helped
Reminiscent of old Rockville, these homes are intended to evoke the charm and warmth of that gracious old neighborhood. We have created our own Arts and Crafts style of architecture, borrowing from the past and fusing it with today’s more modern elements.
Long porches, masonry features with rich authentic trim and siding, standing metal seam roofs, and historic looking windows from the 1920’s will all help set the stage for the architectural look of our homes. Craftsman style homes of this era have most certainly influenced our designs. Low stone walls, raised entry steps with brick herringbone walkways, and landscaped corners will tie the new community together to the neighborhood along West Montgomery Avenue.
It is our intention to create a new architectural community. Shingle style homes along with the popular American Bungalow style homes will round out a varied look among the different house types that we will offer.
We would like to see our design drive the creation of a new site plan in such a manner as to integrate our designs into the surrounding neighborhood. To this end, garages and driveways may be brought in from or to the rear of the homes, the front yards may be only a few feet deep, and lot size may vary from house to house, thereby generating an older, less production feel approach to new construction.
Our homes will blend with those of the historic past and not overshadow or compete with them. We need to co-exist with our neighbors, the gracious older homes of our very own past.
